It’s hardly going to come as a surprise to anybody, but Square Enix’s long-wishlisted Final Fantasy VII Remake has debuted in the number-one spot of the UK Charts, celebrating a successful physical launch despite ongoing distribution issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, Square Enix’s retread of the 1996 PlayStation classic successfully pushed Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from the top spot, shoving the military shooter into second place. The Top Ten is rounded out with a slew of big releases, including Capcom’s Resident Evil 3, Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Electronic Arts’ FIFA 20.
Speaking of Nintendo, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – which left the Top 20 for the first time since release last week – has rocketed back into the Top Ten, re-entering at number five. A sign that Nintendo Europe is starting to get back on top of its shipment schedule. Also of note, the increasingly rare Ring Fit Adventure suddenly made a reappearance, entering the Top 40 at number 25.
