Hardspace: Shipbreaker is “a first-person, zero-G, spaceship salvaging game,” according to its developers (many of whom worked on the beloved Homeworld series). Developer Blackbird Interactive and publisher Focus Home Entertainment have announced that Hardspace will launch into Early Access on June 16.
Accompanying the announcement is a new behind-the-scenes video (which, thankfully, features a ton of gameplay – you can watch it above) that walks you through what Hardspace is all about; you play a blue-collar worker employed in orbit above Earth by the Lynx Corporation, a company that literally owns your DNA. That means that while you work on breaking down spaceships for salvage using your laser cutter, workplace accidents won’t release you from the company. Instead, Lynx will reassemble your DNA and regenerate you. You’ll have to figure out how to escape their grasp in some other way…

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Hardspace: Shipbreaker are planned for release at a later date, though no specific timeline has been announced. For more on Hardspace, check out the reveal trailer as well as a developer-guided gameplay walkthrough.
