As a kid, did you ever hop on a ride at a Disney park, only to be overcome with wonder and awe… and as the ride comes to a close, you were left wondering, “How did they freakin’ do that?!” Well, there’s an incredible story behind the group of people that brought these childhood fantasies to life and I can’t recommend it enough. If you’ve ever experienced a love for Disney’s special brand of immersion, or want an unexpected tale of how this company wove itself into the last century of American and even global culture, you’ve really got to check out The Imagineering Story on Disney+.

Binge It! Netflix’s You Is the Insane Erotic Thriller You Need to Watch

Magic is something Disney has been playing with since its early days. Whether it’s a mouse magically convincing a broom to carry buckets of water, a babysitter arriving by flying umbrella, or two brothers in search of a powerful Phoenix Gem in order to bring their dad back from the dead for a day, Disney’s grasp on the fantastical is at the core of its creativity. However, one of the Mouse House’s greatest assets is its “Imagineers,” whose job it is to bring magical ideas into the physical world.

Throughout the years, this group has pulled a huge number of people from across a ton of disciplines in order to create fantastic experiences, represent many world cultures, and make amazing scientific advances.

This six-episode Disney+ series tells a fairly candid story of how the Imagineers assembled, the monumental successes and devastating failures of both this group and Disney’s global parks and cruises, with all taking their blows when deserved. The compelling narration provided by Angela Bassett delivers the story’s weight. The impressive build this series sustains makes the historical tidbits and untold stories ever more interesting as things progress.

Most of all, if the current Covid-19 reality has you missing or fearing for your upcoming trip to a Disney park (my July trip is looking like it’s getting pushed until much later), this will bring some of that Disney magic into your home — because we could all use a little slice of the happiest place on Earth, especially now.
