Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD will return for its seventh season on May 27, and we’ve got an exclusive first look at the latest trailer for the team’s final time-traveling adventure, which will take them to the past and reunite them with old favorites, including Agent Carter’s Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj), who can be glimpsed in the new footage.

According to ABC, in the Season 7 premiere, “Coulson and the Agents of SHIELD are thrust backward in time and stranded in 1931 New York City. With the all-new Zephyr set to time-jump at any moment, the team must hurry to find out exactly what happened. If they fail, it would mean disaster for the past, present, and future of the world.”
Season 6 ended with our agents attempting to thwart the time-traveling Chronicoms in their quest to destroy SHIELD. The meddling robots are displaying some pretty freaky face-stealing tech in the new trailer; could this technology mean that other familiar faces might pop up in the final season, especially given that the team will be revisiting past time periods? We wouldn’t rule it out.
And while our Coulson remains really, truly dead – at least in the team’s present – we have a Life Model Decoy version to ensure we get our fill of Clark Gregg (although much like Captain Marvel offered us a window into Coulson’s past, perhaps the Zephyr’s time-traveling capabilities could help us visit a younger version of the real Coulson at some point?).
Either way, we’re looking forward to seeing all the new time periods – and costumes – in store for our heroes; you can speculate where and when they might visit based on the trailer and the official poster below.
And let’s not ignore the trailer’s zinger of a final line – that in order to save SHIELD, the team will have to save Hydra. To defeat the Chronicoms, perhaps they’ll even need to partner with members of the evil organization that will someday bring SHIELD down from the inside? Hit the comments to speculate on the possibilities!
Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD stars Clark Gregg as Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Elizabeth Henstridge as Jemma Simmons, Iain De Caestecker as Leopold Fitz, Henry Simmons as Director “Mack” MacKenzie, Natalia Cordova-Buckley as “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez, and Jeff Ward as Deke Shaw. The series was co-created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, who also serve as executive producers along with Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb.
Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Season 7 premieres Wednesday, May 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
