Bungie has confirmed that Destiny 2 will be making its way to both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

Following Microsoft’s Inside Xbox that showcased the first gameplay footage from third-party Xbox Series X games, Bungie took the opportunity to announce that Destiny 2 would indeed be coming to “next-gen platforms” and that it would discuss further details in the future.

It is unclear if Destiny 2 will take advantage of Xbox’s Smart Delivery, which allows those who already own a specific title to upgrade to the next-gen version at no additional cost.

Last year, Bungie separated from Activision and now has complete control over Destiny 2. It also announced that it has plans to also release one non-Destiny game by 2025.

Bungie also revealed that it would be transitioning Destiny 2 from a first-person shooter game to an action-MMO, and that it would be offering a new free-to-play model called New Light.

Destiny 2 joins the ever-growing list of confirmed titles coming to Xbox Series X, a list that includes such current-gen titles as Gears 5, Rainbow Six Seige, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Cyberpunk 2077.

Destiny 2 has been going strong since it was released in 2017, and it remains as one of our choices for the Top 10 Most Addictive Online Games.
