Yesterday, Microsoft revealed that over 100 games would be available for streaming through its xCloud streaming service, which will come bundled with Game Pass Ultimate, starting September 15. It’s a great deal and a fun way to dip your toe into game streaming. However, if you were looking forward to streaming Xbox games off an iOS device, you might be out of luck.
Today, Microsoft stopped testing its xCloud service on iOS devices, and the service will not be available for iOS users on September 15. Game Pass Ultimate users will still be able to stream games onto Android devices (version 6.0 or greater). Microsoft is also prepping to bring xCloud streaming to Xbox consoles and PCs, and the company could still bring the service to iOS devices, but it might take a bit more time.
“Our Project xCloud preview TestFlight period has ended on iOS and we are focused on delivering cloud gaming as part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to Android customers beginning September 15,” a Microsoft spokesperson told The Verge. “It’s our ambition to scale cloud gaming through Xbox Game Pass available on all devices.”
