MacGruber is coming back to kick ass and rip throats.
Peacock, NBCUniversal’s new streaming service, announced Monday that it’s ordered eight half-hour episodes of MacGruber.
Creator-star Will Forte is back to play the world’s dumbest tough guy action hero in the series, which he will also write and executive produce alongside John Solomon and Jorma Taccone.
Taccone, who directed the Macgruber movie, will also direct the series.
Lorne Michaels, John Goldwyn, Andrew Singer and Erin David are also exec producers on MacGruber, which began as a skit on Saturday Night Live before hitting the big screen in 2010.

Although a critical and box office disappointment upon release — even after a promo appearance where MacGruber almost got annihilated on WWE’s Monday Night RAW — MacGruber developed a cult following over the years. Forte went on to star in the Emmy-nominated series The Last Man on Earth and the acclaimed 2013 film Nebraska.
So what will Peacock’s MacGruber be about beyond the inevitable deluge of dick jokes and the title character’s inability to plan? Who will he fight now that he no longer has Cunth to pound? Well, here’s the official plot synopsis:
“After rotting in prison for over a decade, America’s ultimate hero and uber patriot MacGruber (Will Forte) is finally released. His mission: to take down a mysterious villain from his past—Brigadier Commander Enos Queeth. With the entire world in the crosshairs, MacGruber must race against time to defeat the forces of evil — only to find that evil… may be lurking within.”
No word yet on whether Forte’s co-stars Kristen Wiig and Ryan Phillippe will also reprise their roles (as Vicki St. Elmo and Dixon Piper, respectively) for the series. In our MacGruber review, we said “Forte and Wiig deliver a comedy masterclass, with the pair seemingly prepared to do anything to raise a laugh.”
