Shawn Ashmore will be joining The Boys for its second season. Or, should we say, he’ll be joining The Seven: he’s playing Lamplighter, one of the world’s superheroes.
Fans may remember from Season 1 (or, indeed, the comics) that new The Seven member Annie January/Starlight was drafted into the superhero team as a replacement for Lamplighter, who left under mysterious circumstances. But, as we’ll see in Season 2, Lamplighter is back.
Beyond his position as part of The Seven, Lamplighter’s past also directly ties into The Boys’ history and why they broke up eight years ago. His presence in Season 2 is sure to whip up some tensions among Butcher and his crew.
Season 2 of The Boys begins September 4 on Amazon Prime Video. Three episodes will be available that day, with subsequent episodes released weekly each Friday. The season finale will be available to stream on October 9.

In addition, an aftershow – Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys – will begin on August 28 with a look back at Season 1, with new episodes available to accompany each new chapter of the show thereafter. It’s presented by Aisha Tyler.
