The Mandalorian executive producer and showrunner Jon Favreau has confirmed production of Season 3 of the popular Disney+ Star Wars serial is on track to begin “before the end of the year,” according to Variety. A specific date was not revealed, though leading man Pedro Pascal is currently in Croatia filming scenes for the 2021 action comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, alongside Nicolas Cage.

Favreau also admitted The Mandalorian team are amenable to the potential of a movie emerging from The Mandalorian universe, though he stressed he’s in “no rush” to see the show as anything but a streaming series for now.

“But we’re definitely open to it,” said Favreau, “and excited to see where the story leads us and have that flexibility — because there’s no rulebook now.”

The Mandalorian’s second season is set to arrive on Disney+ on October 30, 2020. It’s a season that may leave us with more questions than answers, though, as Giancarlo Esposito recently hinted that “answers” will come in seasons 3 and 4.
