Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, a battle royale game set in Midgar before the events of FF7, and Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis, a “chapter-structured single player game covering the whole of the FFVII timeline – including the events of the original game and the FFVII compilation titles.”
Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier takes place 30 years before Final Fantasy 7 when Shinra is forming SOLDIER – “an experimental corps of enhanced fighters.” It looks to feature gunplay, close quarters combat, and abilities and players can switch between a third-person view and a first-person view.

Summons also appear to be part of the game, as the trailer shows Ifrit being called down on the battlefield. Furthermore, there will be classic Final Fantasy enemies alongside actual players to face-off against, and it even features the Guard Scorpion boss from FF7.
Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier will be available on iOS and Android in 2021.
Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis is a chapter-structured single player game that looks to cover the whole FF7 timeline, including Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. It will feature a “nostalgic visual twist” that looks a lot like a modernized and stylish take on the original PS1 graphics.

Ever Crisis looks to feature real-time action-based combat with many of the abilities, summons, and Limit Breaks fans would expect.
Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis will be released on iOS and Android in 2022.
These mobile game announcements follow the reveal of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade for the PS5 at the latest State of Play. This version of Final Fantasy VII Remake features visual optimizations, Photo Mode, and a new episode featuring Yuffie.
