According to reports online, some players are experiencing unresponsive buttons on their Xbox Series X|S controllers, and Microsoft is already looking to fix this issue.
As reported by sites like PC Gamer, some players have experienced an issue where pressing a button on the Xbox controller will not result in an action. This issue appears to affect players using the Xbox controller on both consoles and PC, apparently.
Microsoft has issued a statement to IGN saying it is investigating the issue and working on a fix. Check out the full statement below:
“At Microsoft, we put all of our products through rigorous quality assurance testing and are committed to providing customers with an unparalleled gaming experience. We are aware some players may be experiencing unresponsiveness with their new Xbox Wireless Controllers and our teams are actively working on a solution. For the best experience, we encourage customers to visit Xbox Support for assistance.”
Users are starting to share their experiences with faulty controllers online. One player tells The Loadout that the “Y” button is the one primarily malfunctioning for them.

It’s unclear what the cause of the issue is, and until Microsoft announces an official fix, it’s hard to say what temporary fixes are available to players.
The Xbox controller is the latest console hardware to face issues. The Nintendo Switch has a long recorded history of faulty Joy-Cons, with issues ranging from disconnecting controllers to drift – where the reticle will begin to move on its own without player input.
More recently the PlayStation 5 DualSense has also been found to experience cases of drift. You can check out everything we know about DualSense drift here.
