Amazon is offering clippable coupon discounts on several of the most popular and best rated board games. Some of the prices match or beat what we saw during the Amazon Prime Early Black Friday Sale, and there are also plenty of board games that didn't go on sale at all. We've picked out the best board games that are worth getting, especially at their new temporarily discounted price.
Wingspan Board Game for $35.62
Wingspan from Stonemeier Games is an incredibly good board game. So good in fact that we deemed it the best board game of 2019. Wingspan looks like a deceptively simple game; the endgame goal is to attract as many birds as you can to your wildlife preserve and help them proliferate. There are only four actions you can perform: draw a bird card, play a bird card, get food, and lay eggs. Sounds simple enough, right? Well let's just say these four actions mask an incredibly complex (albeit very newbie-friendly) engine-building game with which you will have to juggle between bringing new birds into the fold and keeping your existing birds well stocked and in a breeding frenzy. Wingspan is infinitely replayable and you'll find yourself developing and honing new strategies with every subsequent playthough.
Scythe Board Game for $46.49
Scythe is a competitive engine-building game that takes place in an alternate history. It's designed for 1 to 5 players and offers about 2 hours of playtime per session. It's consistently rated one of the top 20 board games of all time on BoardGameGeek. It's also one of the more complex games on this list, so board game newbies might want to shy away from this one. For serious board game enthusiasts, though, Scythe is well worth even the retail price.
Viticulture Board Game for $34.49
Viticulture is an economic strategy game in which you are tasked with maintaining and profiting from your vineyards. That mostly means hiring workers to build structures, grow and harvest your grapes, facilitate the winemaking process, and of course selling the wine. It's best played with two to six players, however this game can also be enjoyed solo. Although this is a fairly older release (2013), it is rarely discounted and it's still considered one of the best economic games around, especially since it's not as dauntingly complex as some other similar board games.
Dune: Imperium Board Game for $36.37
Dune: Imperium is a more recent (2020) release and happens to be the first officially licensed Dune board game in over 40 years. It's a combination of traditional worker placement strategy spiced up with deck building. You take the role of a leader of one of the noble houses and your goal is to be the dominant faction on Arrakis. Up to four players can work against each other or there is an option to play solo. Although by no means a simple game, it's far less daunting and more accessible than its 1979 predecessor.
