Tim Burton, who directed the 1988 original, has returned as both director and producer for the sequel, collaborating with Brad Pitt’s Plan B, among others. While specifics about the plot still remain scarce, it is known that Ortega will portray the daughter of Winona Ryder’s character from the original, and Dafoe will assume the role of some sort of an underworld cop. The screenplay is from Al Gough and Miles Millar, known for their work on the Ortega-starring Wednesday Netflix series and the Superman prequel series Smallville.
