Nintendo finally announced the Switch 2 during an event in January, and what was the reaction from fans? Many people thought it was a bit underwhelming. Nintendo’s own president has said it’s too early to gauge the reaction to the system because Nintendo has not shown much.

That will change in April during the big-time Switch 2 Nintendo Direct–and that might be a better time to analyze how fans think about the system, Shuntaro Furukawa said during Nintendo’s latest earnings briefing.

“We are happy that many people all over the world watched the trailer. But because we only revealed the name and form factor, we will need to wait until more detailed information is released on April 2 to get a good sense of their reaction,” Furukawa said. “There is currently a lot of interest, so we will first focus on the preparation for the April 2 announcement, and then offer opportunities for many people to get their hands on the hardware, so we can convey its appeal.”
